Ceramic wall sculpture from the Crying Flowers series

The work exists between the image of a flower and a human face. The center of the composition evokes the face of a woman emerging from the open form of a flower, while its surface is covered with numerous black spherical elements that create an independent relief, shifting the work away from a recognizable image toward an abstract sculptural form.

The Crying Flowers series brings together ceramic sculptures in which botanical, anatomical, biological, and geological forms gradually merge into one another. Rather than serving as models to be reproduced, forms found in nature become the point of departure for creating autonomous abstract forms.

The sculpture is hand-built in clay. Its surface is finished with layered expressive glazes, creating subtle transitions between shades of green, pearl, and black that enhance the relief and emphasize the sculptural qualities of the form.
