The painting depicts a summer afternoon by the shore of a lake. A young couple lies in the grass, enjoying a moment of peace and intimacy. They are just about to enter the water—unsure whether it will be warm or cold, deep or shallow.
Similarly, their feelings—still unclear, but already exciting. Their relationship is just beginning, and, like water before the first dive, the future holds both attraction and uncertainty.
The vibrant composition and rich colors highlight the energy of youth and the subtle distinction between serenity and anticipation of the new.
This picture is painted on a special canvas with a natural, rough texture. Leaving part of the canvas bare, I used mixed media to create the painting. Acrylic paint and oil pastels combined to create the effect of interesting textures.
